In November of 2023, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights announced its new Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants program (Community Change Grants). This program offers approximately $2 billion in funding to support community-driven projects that “deploy clean energy, strengthen climate resilience, and build capacity for communities to tackle environmental and climate justice challenges.” The funding is provided by the Inflation Reduction Act. EPA emphasized that the program’s benefits will exclusively be available to “disadvantaged communities that are marginalized by underinvestment and overburdened by pollution,” including Federally-recognized Tribes. $300 million of the funding is earmarked for eligible tribal projects.

This webinar aims to assist Federally-recognized Tribes and community-based organizations to understand how they can optimize their efforts to access IRA Community Change Grant funds for climate action and pollution reduction projects.
